2024 TSD Forum

Trade and Sustainable Development (TSD) stands at a crossroads. As economic security takes center stage in the EU's political agenda and ambitions, we need to make sure that TSD remains the guiding framework for trade and all EU policies. The third edition of the EESC Civil Society Forum on TSD, taking place on Thursday, 5 December from 13:45 to 17:30 at the EESC premises in Brussels – hybrid format - offers a unique opportunity to influence policy direction at the dawn of a new EU Commission.

Under the theme "New mandate, new challenge: reaffirming TSD amid economic security ambitions," this year's Forum will focus on integrating economic security within a sustainable framework. We will explore how trade policy can help pursue resilience and security alongside long-term development and social justice for all partners—not as alternatives, but as essential components of a coherent strategy. In a world facing geopolitical shifts and emerging challenges, reaffirming TSD is crucial for building a sustainable future.
