Concept
A panel discussion with the European Parliament's co-rapporteurs Siegfrid Mureșan (EPP; RO) and Carla Tavares (S&D, PT) for the post-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) on the importance of the EU's long term budgetary planning for CSOs and citizens, as well as Parliament's priorities in the upcoming MFF negotiations.
Parliament has started shaping its position for the forthcoming debate on the next MFF with a draft initiative report, “A revamped long-term budget for the Union in a changing world”. The panel discussion will then be a unique opportunity for participants to get a foretaste of what the EP position might look ahead of the plenary vote.
When it comes to the MFF, the European Parliament approves, monitors and scrutinises the EU budget, ensuring that the EU funds are managed responsibly, transparently and in line with shared values. With Members of the European Parliament elected by direct universal suffrage, Parliament’s position on the MFF thus represents the voice of the EU citizens on the topic.
