In order to encourage the country's industrial and business community to actively participate in the 2024 European Parliament (EP) elections, the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists (LPK) on 7th May will organize a debate with the leaders of main political parties that are number ones on the parties’ lists that are taking part in European Parliament elections.
This event will also be a good opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Lithuania's membership in the European Union. LPK very well understands and appreciates the importance of Lithuania's membership in the EU, as it created excellent conditions for Lithuanian business to grow, expand, and export to other EU and world markets.
At the same time, LPK highly values the role of the European Parliament, which participates in making the most important decisions that affect all aspects of life throughout the European Union, including industry and business. Therefore, the participation of business in the elections is important for us and we care about who will be elected to the European Parliament.
The event will take place on 7th May, 2:00 p.m. at the European House in Vilnius, Gediminas str 16. The discussion will be moderated by the President of LPK Mr. Vidmantas Janulevičius.
The following leaders of political parties will take part in the discussion: Ms. Vilija Blinkevičiūtė, Member of the European Parliament, Mr. Eugenijus Gentvilas, Member of the Lithuanian Seimas, Mr. Andrius Kubilius, Member of the European Parliament, Mr. Virginijus Sinkevičius, Commissioner of the European Commission, Mr. Aurelijus Veryga, Member of the Lithuanian Seimas, Mr. Dainius Žalimas, professor of constitutional and international law.
Participants: heads of Lithuanian industrial and business companies, planned number of participants: 50-60.
Personally responsible for organization of the event - Mr. Gintaras Morkis, Deputy Director General of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, Member of the European Economic and Social Committee (Employers’ Group), with assistance of Mr. Alfredas Jonuška, Member of the European Economic and Social Committee (Employers Group), Mr. Emilis Ruželė, Member of the European Economic and Social Committee (Employers Group).
