The public hearing on "Towards a more resilient and sustainable European economy with a vision for completing EMU" to be held on Friday, 12 April 2019, starting at 11.30 a.m., will discuss from a wider civil society perspective the future of the European economy and the political initiatives and decisions that need to be taken during the upcoming legislative term and beyond. Taking into account the conclusions of the debate, the EESC will draw up two own-initiative opinions, entitled "Towards a more resilient and sustainable European economy" and "A new vision for completing the Economic and Monetary Union", to be forwarded to the new European Parliament and European Commission.


Public Hearing on Strengthening the international role of the euro: European and international perspectives in the framework of ECO/489. This event will take place on Thursday, 4 April 2019, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is bringing together policy-makers and civil society representatives for an exchange of views from a European and an international perspective.

Pretendemos en este acto público, organizado el 5 de febrero de 2019 en Madrid, establecer un debate sobre los aspectos principales de la economía de la Unión Europea, de su situación y su gobierno, abordando la coyuntura y las perspectivas de futuro, así como las políticas económicas en sus facetas  macroeconómica, fiscal y financiera.

Se hablará de la economía española, haciéndolo con una perspectiva europea, enmarcada por la situación económica y las políticas europeas.

Organizado conjuntamente por el Comité Económico y Social Europeo (CESE) y la Representación de la Comisión Europea en España, se quiere establecer un diálogo entre representantes de la sociedad civil organizada, del gobierno español y de la academia.

Growth and jobs remain an overarching priority for all EU Member States and for the EU as a whole. The Employers' Group of the EESC is organising an extraordinary Meeting in Malta on 11 may 2017 from 2pm to 5.30pm to reflect on EU's initiatives to mobilise private investment including the extension in time and financial capacity of the European Fund for Strategic Investment which is a priority file during the Maltese Presidency. The conference will also be the occasion to discuss the specific case of Malta which has been able to attract private sector investment in the presence of the Prime Minister, the Parliamentary Secretary for EU funds, representatives from Business, academics and other Maltese and European stakeholder.


The EESC is currently working on an opinion on the proposal on extending EFSI. In the framework of the elaboration of the opinion, the Section for Economic and Monetary Union and Economic and Social Cohesion (ECO) organised on 10 November 2016 from 10 a.m. a public hearing on The extension of the duration of the European Fund for Strategic Investment (EFSI 2.0).


The EESC supports the Commission's ambition for the European Union to lead the way in the global fight against money laundering and terrorism, in which all stakeholders should join forces. To feed into the political debate and decision making process and to make sure the needs of civil society are duly taken account of, the EESC is organising a public hearing on "The fight against money laundering, terrorist financing and tax evasion".


The European Economic and Social Committee, the International Confederation of Popular Banks, the European Association of Co-operative Banks, the UNICO Banking Group, and the European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises will organize the conference “Co-operative Banks and innovation in SME Financing” in Brussels on 9 November 2016.

The conference will bring to the forefront the raise of technology players in financial services. The focus will be on the SMEs' financing and on the interaction between these new players and the cooperative and popular banks.



El Comité Económico y Social Europeo (CESE) elabora en la actualidad un dictamen de iniciativa sobre «Promover las empresas innovadoras y de rápido crecimiento». A fin de adquirir más amplios conocimientos, el CESE organiza una audiencia pública, el 7 de julio de 2016 en la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (España), para contribuir a la definición de los retos y oportunidades de la UE en este ámbito y crear un entorno propicio para la creación de empresas innovadoras y de rápido crecimiento. La audiencia ayudará a formular recomendaciones dirigidas a los responsables políticos sobre las medidas y actuaciones necesarias para abordar la situación.
