This public hearing will aim to examine the growing threat of gender-based cyberviolence against women and girls, including deepfake pornography, non-consensual image sharing and 'nudification' apps. Such abuses are used to intimidate, silence and discredit women in public and professional life. The hearing will explore how to hold perpetrators accountable and identify effective measures to combat online misogyny and protect women’s rights online.
The EESC continues to push for an end to Europe’s housing crisis. In a new opinion, it argues that, to achieve more affordable housing, the EU needs a number of urgent measures, including: a better strategy for land use and rural areas, much more investment and public funding linked to clear social criteria, faster planning and permitting procedures through digitalisation, the right workforce and skills, and modern construction methods.
