As in previous years, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) will actively participate in COP17 to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), which will take place from 19 to 30 October 2026 in Yerevan, Armenia.

  • Joint Declaration 43rd meeting of the EU-Türkiye JCC

During its June plenary session, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) adopted an opinion evaluating the implementation of the EU Whistleblower Protection Directive, warning that significant gaps remain between legal protections and their practical application. The Committee calls for stronger safeguards against retaliation, better support for whistleblowers, greater involvement of civil society and a cultural shift that sees whistleblowing as a contribution to democracy, transparency and the public interest.

The 5th annual All DAGs meeting will take place on Monday 2 July 2026 10:00-14:00 at the EESC premises in JDE51 including a networking lunch. This will be a great opportunity to gather all EU DAG Members and key EU institution stakeholders as one TSD community, to openly exchange ideas, challenges, and aspirations. The meeting will feature, among others, CTEO Denis Redonnet and INTA Chair Bernd Lange.

Public Hearing and 1st Study Group meeting

The European Economic and Social Committee is preparing an own‑initiative opinion on “Empowering Civil Society in the EU Security: advancing the civilian Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) Compact and the European Civilian Peace Corps.”

In this context, the EESC is organising a public hearing in the framework of the first meeting of the Study Group dedicated to this topic.
