The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions, evaluation and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.
The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.
Artificial Intelligence is transforming the workplace, creating both new opportunities and serious challenges for workers, businesses, and policymakers. As part of ongoing efforts to shape AI’s role in the labour market, EESC President Oliver Röpke took center stage at a high-level ministerial conference in Gdańsk on February 20, 2025. Organized under the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the event brought together EU ministers, EU institutions social partners and civil society representatives to discuss AI’s impact on employment and workers' rights. President Röpke advocated for responsible AI governance, emphasizing the need for transparency, fairness, and worker involvement in AI deployment.

As we mark the third anniversary of Russia’s unjustified and unprovoked aggression against Ukraine, we remember the immense suffering endured by the Ukrainian people. The aggression led to widespread death, suffering and massive destruction, the Ukrainian people continue their fight for freedom and democracy. The EESC stands with Ukraine’s civil society and reconstruction, committed to democracy. We reaffirm our unwavering solidarity with Ukraine and its democratic aspirations, including integration with the European Union.
