The meeting was devoted to a debate on the current political situation in Greece and Europe. The meeting was also an opportunity for a discussion on future developments in connection with the Better Regulation package and the Inter-institutional Agreement. It also took stock of the 2015 Civil Society Day and discussed a Report on the activities of the Liaison Group 2014-2015.

The meeting was devoted to the adoption of the Activity Report for 2014 and of the new Operating Rules, as well as of new alternate members. The meeting was also an opportunity for a discussion on LG participation to the Latvian Presidency Forum on civil society and a broad debate on the group's priorities and activities in 2015.

The meeting was devoted to an exchange of views on relations between the EU institutions and citizens and the potential of organised civil society to close the gap between the two. The next Civil Society Day and the functioning of the Liaison Group, especially its involvement in the work of the EESC, were then discussed. The meeting was also an opportunity for the presidents of the EESC Sections to present their priorities.

The 23rd meeting of the EESC Liason Group, held on 10 September 2012, dealt notably with the preparation of the the European Year of Citizens (2013) and the follow-up of the Rio+20 conference. The Liaison Group also had a first exchange of views on the 4th Civil Society Day, planned for March 2013.

The development of a structured European civil dialogue between civil society organisations and EU institutions, and the future programme Europe for Citizens 2014-2020 are the two main themes which were addressed at the meeting of the Liaison Group with civil society organisations and networks, which is co-chaired by Staffan Nilsson and Jean-Marc Roirant, President of the European Civic Forum. These two themes were subject to exchanges of views which form part of the preparation of two EESC opinions. The two rapporteurs concerned, Luca Jahier and Andris Gobiņš, respectively, participated in the debates.
