The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

Nuestra invitada sorpresa es la Dra. Alexandra Borchardt, que fue la oradora principal en el Seminario del CESE «Conectar la UE» en 2024. Autora principal del Informe de Noticias de la Unión Europea de Radiodifusión de 2024 sobre los efectos de la IA en el periodismo, analiza las perspectivas de un periodismo responsable tras los rápidos progresos de la IA generativa. Aunque algunos en el sector de los medios de comunicación ya se han dejado embriagar por sus promesas, los riesgos que entraña la IA generativa son considerables, si bien también lo son las oportunidades.
La Dra. Borchardt es periodista de alto nivel, asesora independiente, profesora universitaria e investigadora en el sector de los medios de comunicación con más de veinticinco años de experiencia en salas de redacción, quince de ellos desempeñando funciones de liderazgo. En los últimos cinco años ha apoyado a veintiséis editores europeos en su transformación digital como orientadora del programa «Table Stakes Europe» de la Asociación Mundial de Editores de Noticias (WAN-IFRA).
