  • On 16 April 2025, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) took part in the Informal EPSCO Equality Ministerial Meeting, held under the Polish Presidency at the Warsaw Citadel. EESC President Röpke used the occasion to reinforce the Committee’s commitment to Roma inclusion and gender equality, while calling for stronger EU action against disinformation and systemic discrimination.

  • At the Informal EPSCO Social Policy Council held this week in Warsaw, European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) President Röpke made a strong political call for Europe to deliver on its promises of fairness, dignity and rights in the digital and demographic transitions. The two-day event, hosted by the Polish Presidency and Minister Dziemianowicz-Bąk, convened EU ministers for Employment and Social Affairs, social partners, and institutional leaders, including Executive Vice-President Mînzatu.

  • EESC President Röpke met on 10 April 2025 with European Commissioner for International Partnerships Síkela and the Presiding Officer of the African Union's Economic, Social and Cultural Council (AU ECOSOCC), Sissoko, to reinforce joint efforts in enhancing civil society engagement in the EU-Africa partnership.

  • The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) deepened its engagement with the Western Balkans this week with a series of high-level meetings and the official launch of the EU–Albania Joint Civil Society Consultative Committee (JCC)—a major milestone in Albania’s EU accession journey.

  • During the Conference of Committee Chairs (CCC) meeting, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and the European Parliament marked a key milestone in their partnership. They reflected on the first year of their renewed cooperation agreement, signed by EESC President Oliver Röpke and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola in May 2024, and looked ahead to the new parliamentary mandate for strengthened collaboration.

  • As the 69th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) concludes, President Röpke has reaffirmed his strong backing for the European Commission’s new Roadmap for Women’s Rights — calling it a crucial step in advancing gender equality across the European Union and beyond.

  • The first meeting of the EU-Albania Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) took place on 4 April 2025 in Tirana, Albania. This platform, established within the institutional framework of the EU-Albania Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA), will enable representatives from both the EU and Albanian civil society to monitor the country's accession negotiations, discuss issues of common interest, and highlight concerns to be addressed on Albanian's path towards the European Union.
