CCMI Delegates

CCMI Category 2 Delegate Nomination Process

For the EESC Workers' Group (Group II), the Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI) provides the opportunity to harness the expertise of trade unionists from various industrial and service sectors, in order to contribute to the development of European policies that anticipate and manage the changes taking place in these sectors. As a result, the nomination of trade union (Category II) delegates to CCMI, is accorded to the European Trade Union Federations (ETUFs) which most broadly represent the workers in the various sectors of relevance to the CCMI, a decision taken by the ETUFs themselves. For the Workers' Group, this ensures that the voices of workers across different sectors and regions are well represented in the work of the CCMI and, ultimately, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).

Transparency and Accountability

The ETUFs' selection of their respective delegates follows a transparent and inclusive procedure, according to their internal rules and practices.  As the largest ETUF, this process is coordinated by industriAll Europe. While the primary criteria for the selection of the delegates is their sectoral expertise and experience, additional criteria include geographical and gender balance, as much as this is possible.

To guarantee transparency, each ETUF is required to provide official documentation of its nomination procedure, such as decisions from Executive Committees or Steering Committees. These records, together with candidates’ CVs, are provided to the EESC Workers’ Group.

The list of nominees is presented to the Workers' Group, before being confirmed by the EESC Bureau and adopted by the EESC Plenary.

This process demonstrates the trade union movement’s commitment to democratic decision-making, transparency, and accountability, ensuring that the CCMI continues to represent workers’ voices in shaping Europe’s industrial future.
