Sylvain Le Bon is a co-founder of Startin’blox, a cooperative dedicated to making technology work for people—not the other way around. With a passion for digital democracy and collaboration, he has spent years building tools that help communities, organizations, and governments work together more effectively, without being locked into big tech platforms. His work is all about breaking down silos: creating spaces where data can flow freely and securely, so that local groups can connect, share, and make decisions together—whether they’re next-door neighbors or spread across continents.
One of his recent work is his contribution to the emerging “democracy data space,” a bold idea that aims to bring fragmented democratic efforts into a single, connected ecosystem. Imagine a world where local town halls, activists, and policymakers can easily share information, coordinate actions, and amplify their voices—without losing control of their data. In partnerships with organizations such as Open Source Politics and the metropolis of Bordeaux, he is helping design the rules and tools that make this possible. The goal is simple but transformative: to turn digital democracy from a patchwork of isolated experiments into a powerful, inclusive network where everyone has a seat at the table. Technology isn’t just about efficiency—it’s about empowerment, ensuring that communities, not corporations, shape their own futures.
