    NEW DEADLINE : Applications are open until 2 December 2021

    At the annual YEYS 2022 event, students from all over Europe will have their say on disinformation and fake news. The event will take place virtually between 31 March and 1 April 2022.

  • Speakers at the EESC’s second Stakeholder Summit on Artificial Intelligence have called for more inclusive consultation on fundamental rights and a ban on biometric recognition. They also advocated human supervision of AI in the workplace, support for SMEs to adopt it and universal training to prepare society for AI.

    The conference on Fundamental Rights and Rule of Law held by the European Economic and Social Committee brought into light serious violations and negative trends in the four areas covered by the European Rule of Law Mechanism (justice, corruption, media, checks and balances). The EESC stressed that civil society is a dynamic actor in defending this fundamental principle of the EU.

    El CESE pide a los responsables políticos que apliquen una estrategia global y holística que favorezca un desarrollo rural y urbano equilibrado, cohesionado, equitativo y sostenible. Esto requerirá aprovechar el papel de las comunidades locales, impulsar las industrias tradicionales y crear nuevas actividades económicas y oportunidades de empleo en las zonas rurales, fomentando al mismo tiempo las sinergias con las zonas urbanas.     In a plenary debate on the future of EU trade policy in a changing global reality, the EESC stressed that open, fair, inclusive and sustainable trade is the only trade that will deliver a resilient recovery and bring prosperity to business and people. It also acknowledged the key role of the World Trade Organisation towards this effort.
