    In an exploratory opinion requested by the German Presidency of the Council, the EESC sets out "diversity management" measures for ensuring that migrants and ethnic minorities are better included in and integrated into the workplace and society.

  • The EESC EU-Japan Follow-up Committee met the morning of 17 July. Items for discussion on the agenda were: the EU-Japan Relations in the post COVID-19 era and  Research and innovation. In addition to this, the Follow-up Committee assessed the current mandate period and reflected on future perspectives.

  • Representatives of the European and Georgian Domestic Advisory Groups (DAGs), set up under the Trade and Sustainable Development Chapter of the Association Agreement between the European Union and Georgia, held their fifth joint meeting virtually on 9 July 2020.

    During the meeting, the members of the Domestic Advisory Group (DAG) of the EU - composed of representatives of employers' organisations, trade unions and various interest groups -  followed up on the joint meetings with the Japanese counterparts that took place in Tokyo in January this year. They also discussed the work programme of the EU DAG and topics for future cooperation and dialogue.  Additionally, the members of the EU DAG exchanged views with representatives of the European Commission on matters related to the implementation of the trade and sustainable development chapter of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

    La quinta reunión del Comité Consultivo Conjunto (JCC) de la Sociedad Civil UE-Chile, establecida por el Acuerdo de Asociación UE-Chile se celebró a través de una video conferencia el 15 de mayo de 2020.

    La reunión abordo temas de interés para ambas partes, como el impacto de la crisis COVID-19 en la cooperación, el comercio y la inversión, el trabajo decente y la economía informal y la Agenda para el Desarrollo Sostenible; así como propuestas para fortalecer el papel del Comité Consultivo Conjunto. Los miembros adoptaron una Declaración Final sobre estos temas.

  • The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and Serbia held the 10th meeting of their Civil Society Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) at the EESC in Brussels. This civil society platform between the EESC and civil society in Serbia was established within the institutional framework of the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) in order to allow civil society organisations on both sides to monitor the country's accession negotiations. It is also a platform to discuss issues of common interest and to inform the public at large of the challenges ahead during the accession period. Besides the current state of play in EU-Serbia relations and the accession process, main topics of the 10th JCC meeting were: Effects of economic and industrial reforms on the quality of life of citizens, Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, civil society point of view and the overview of the civil society situation in Serbia. A common declaration of the JCC was issued after the meeting.
