Conference on the Future of Europe The Conference on the Future of Europe, a joint undertaking of the European Parliament, the Council and the European Commission, οpens a forum for debate with the European citizens to address Europe’s challenges and priorities and document their opinions on the future of Europe. The ESC of Greece organized a public consultation on the Conference on the Future of Europe, aiming to present the positions of the social partners and stakeholders of Greece on a range of issues. Ms Christa Schweng, President of the EESC, was the keynote speaker at the event.

The European Semester provides a framework for the coordination of economic policies across the European Union. The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), in cooperation with the ESC of Greece, organized a debate on the European Semester entitled “The European Semester: Ηow the organised civil society takes stock and sets out prospects for it”. The event in Athens gave the opportunity to the organized civil society in Greece to participate in the process of the European Semester and to discuss the Country Specific Recommendations published by the European Commission on June 5, 2019. The event was opened by the President of the EESC, Mr. Luca Jahier.

22-23 November 2018, Zappeion, Athens The seminar is principally directed to journalists, communications and media experts and press officers from civil society organisations, representing employers, workers and other social, occupational, economic and cultural organisations across Europe.

Marking the end of the President's mandate of the EESC, the Conference aims to provide a platform of debate and awareness regarding the choices and challenges bearing upon the project of a truly integrated and democratic European Union, which he considers as the only valid future for Europe.

The International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS) and the Economic and Social Council of Greece (ESC) jointly organized on November 2017 an International Conference on “Social Dialogue and the Future of Work”. The event brought together government, employer and worker representatives of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions from 38 countries, along with experts from various International Organizations (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development-OECD, World Bank, World Economic Forum, World Trade Organization, International Organization of Employers-IOE, International Trade Union Confederation-ITUC, Public Services International-PSI). The annual meeting of the Presidents and Secretaries-General of the national ESCs of the EU and the EESC was held in Malta on 22-23 June 2017. At this occasion, participants discussed the theme "Towards a fair and inclusive labour market in the context of intra-EU mobility". In addition to debates on this topic, the meeting represented an excellent opportunity to exchange good practices among the participating ESCs.

The Euromed Summit brings together a range of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions, representatives of employers' organisations, trade unions, other economic and social interests groups and NGOs from countries which are members of the Union for the Mediterranean. Mr. George Dassis, President of the European Economic and Social Committee and Mr. George Vernicos, President of the ESC of Greece, welcomed Mr. Alexis Tsipras, Prime Minister of Greece and Mr. Dimitris Mardas, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Euro-Mediterranean Summit of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions which took place on 24 and 25 October 2016 in Vravrona, Greece. The annual meeting of the Presidents and Secretaries-General of the national ESCs of the EU and the EESC will be held in Bucharest on 19-20 November 2015. At this occasion participants will discuss "The role and implication of European ESCs in combatting poverty and social exclusion in times of economic and political crisis". In addition to debates on this topic the meeting will also represent an excellent opportunity to exchange good practices and societal values in order to address and to fight the economic and political crisis together with its humanitarian consequences. Moreover the meeting in Bucharest will further strengthen the close cooperation between the ESCs and complement regular meetings organised by the EESC Europe 2020 Steering Committee.
