Dear Madam, dear Sir,
It is my pleasure to invite you to the 564th Plenary Session of the European Economic and Social Committee. We have planned three important debates, linked to EESC opinions, which I am sure will be of interest to you.
On Wednesday 20 October at 3 p.m., we will hold a debate on The Future of EU Trade Policy in A Changing Global Reality, with Jean-Marie Paugam, Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organisation.
On Thursday 21 October at 10 a.m., you are invited to follow a debate on The Long-Term Strategy for Rural Areas, with Janusz Wojciechowski, EU Commissioner for Agriculture.
On the same day at 11 a.m., our Members will discuss The New Industrial Strategy with Padmashree Gehl Sampath, Berkman Klein Fellow, Harvard University.
I will be glad to welcome you at our plenary session. To that end, I invite you to use webstreaming, which will allow you to follow all the votes and discussions remotely.
Furthermore, I am also very pleased to announce our traditional "Annual Meeting of Presidents and Secretaries-General of the Economic and Social Councils of the EU and the European Economic and Social Committee". The event is organised jointly with the French Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE FR) and will take place on 22 and 23 November 2021 at the Palais d'Iéna in Paris. The theme of this year's meeting is the Conference on the Future of Europe: "Participatory democracy and its role in making the EU resilient and future-proof - the contribution of the European Economic and Social Committee and the national Economic and Social Councils to the Conference on the Future of Europe".
Best regards,
Christa Schweng
EESC President
