Action Plan for the European Steel Industry

All Since 1977 with the Davignon Plan, this is the first time the European Commission proposes an Action Plan for the European Steel Industry. This Plan, adopted on 11 June 2013, wants to help the sector confront today's challenges and lay the foundations for future competitiveness by promoting innovation and creating growth and jobs. The Commission proposes to support demand for EU produced steel both at home and abroad, by acting in order to ensure EU steel producers have access to third country markets through fair trade practices. To promote the next generation of steel products innovation, energy efficiency and sustainable production are essential. This Action Plan also develops measures to support employment and to retain highly skilled labour in Europe.
