  • Economic and Monetary Union and Economic and Social Cohesion (ECO)

    In the field of economic and monetary union (EMU), the ECO Section covers coordination of economic and monetary policy, broad economic policy guidelines, stability and growth pact, enlargement of the euro zone and other issues relating to economic governance. In the field of economic and social cohesion, the remit of the ECO Section embraces regional and structural policy and cohesion policy.

  • Single Market, Production and Consumption (INT)

    The main task of the Section for the Single Market, Production and Consumption (INT Section) is to prepare opinions for the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC): a) at the request of the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers, b) at the request of EU Presidencies in office, c) on its own initiative.

  • Transport, Energy, Infrastructure and Information Society (TEN)

    The Section for Transport, Energy, Infrastructure and the Information Society (TEN) covers the full range of issues relating to the various transport modes, the different forms of energy production, major infrastructure networks, the information society and services of general interest.

  • Employment, Social Affairs and Citizenship (SOC)

    The section covers a broad range of policy formulation including employment, working conditions, occupational health, social protection, social security, social inclusion, gender equality, combating discrimination, improving free movement, immigration/integration and asylum, education and training, citizens' rights, and participatory democracy in the EU.

  • Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment (NAT)

    The NAT Section is responsible for the EESC's work on policies related to agriculture and environment. Additionally, the section works on more specific and technical issues such as waste, air quality, biodiversity, fisheries, forestry, organic farming, food safety, civil protection and animal health and welfare.

  • External Relations Section (REX)

    The principal activities of the Section for External Relations (REX) include monitoring relations between the European Union and the majority of countries in the world, in particular the countries and regions with which the European Union has structured relations.

  • Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI)

    The Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI) is the direct successor of the European Coal and Steel Community's Consultative Committee. The CCMI looks at industrial change issues across a wide spectrum of industrial sectors. The CCMI's main emphasis is on anticipation, pre-emption and analysis so as to ensure positive common approaches to the management of industrial change from an economic, social, territorial and environmental point of view.
