Conseil Européen de la Construction d'appareils Domestiques - European Committee of Domestic Equipment Manufacturers (CECED)

Summary of the initiative

Name
Conseil Européen de la Construction d'appareils Domestiques - European Committee of Domestic Equipment Manufacturers (CECED)
Objective(s)
In 2004, CECED made a selfcommitment ("the agreement") committing most of its members to cease production and imports of several models of household refrigerators, freezers and their combinations showing a poor energy efficiency performance. The EEA appears as the relevant geographic area of the market. The manufacturers that have signed the commitment hold more than 80% of the EEA market. The Commitment covers the period 2002 to 2006, with a reporting commitment until 2010.
The industry association (CECED) asked to withdraw them and make rules mandatory for everybody.
