  • 13 Dec 2011 Joint conclusions on a citizen-orientated approach to the European Single Market EFTA Consultative Committee - Single Market Observatory (SMO) Oslo, 13 December 2011 The EFTA Consultative Committee (EFTA CC) has adopted an opinion on "A citizen's approach to the Single Market" which focuses on the need to promote the awareness and confidence of workers, business and consumers in the Single Market. The topic was also the basis for a joint seminar in Oslo on 13 December 2011 with a delegation from the European Economic and Social Committee’s Single Market Observatory (SMO).

    Single Market Forum, Cracow, Poland, from 2 to 4 October 2011 The Single Market Forum took place in Cracow, Poland, from 2 to 4 October under the auspices of the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Polish Presidency. With the participation of businesses, social partners, NGOs and public authorities it examined the current state of the Single Market, ahead of its 20th anniversary (1992-2012), and contributed to policy evaluation - all of this in the context of the implementation of the Single Market Act.

    Czech EESC members discuss with the Czech Ambassador to the EU and the CEBRE about major EU topics The Czech EESC members met with Ms Milena Vicenová, Czech Ambassador to the EU, and the representatives of the CEBRE (Czech Business Representation to the EU) on 16th February. They discussed further cooperation between the EESC members and Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the European Union on important European topics including EU 2020, Single market Act, Energy policy, Agenda for new skills and jobs, European Year of Volunteering, EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and others.

    Commissioner Barnier calls on the EESC to support relaunching of the Internal Market President Nilsson met Commissioner Barnier, member of the European Commission responsible for Internal Market and Services, on 6 January. The main topic on the agenda was the re-launch of the Internal Market. Commissioner Barnier called on the EESC to participate in the Internal Market Forum created by the European Commission, which needs to work on the twenty main blockages idenitfied in the functioning of the Internal Market. ...
