President Staffan Nilsson is visiting Finland in order to discuss the implementation of Europe 2020 strategy especially from the view of civil society. Mr Nilsson had a meeting with the Finnish Economic Council’s civil society members as well with the state representatives on Wednesday 10 August. In the meeting it was announced that Finland will update its National Reform programme in October because the change of Finland’s Government after the elections last Spring. This process gives, naturally a possibility to estimate whether the current goals are still relevant in the present economic situation.
During his visit President Nilsson will also have discussions with the President of the Republic, Mrs Tarja Halonen, the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament, Mr Eero Heinäluoma, Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade, Mr Alexander Stubb and Minister of agriculture and forestry, Mr Jari Koskinen.
