Key points:

The EESC:

  • supports the Commission's stated objectives and proposals and believes that they have the potential to facilitate scientific work and to make it more efficient;
  • recommends gradually developing the processes underway, with ongoing feedback from active scientists;
  • welcomes the Commission's intention to support the infrastructure needed to this end;
  • points to the fact that all of these measures entail sometimes considerable added costs for researchers and their organisations, which need to be fully accounted for in budget planning and appropriations.
