The European Economic and Social Committee has been actively preparing for Rio+20, in particular through fostering dialogue on sustainable development aiming at a joint understanding of the issues at stake and at common civil society recommendations.
Based on previous bilateral work on sustainable development between the European Economic and Social Committee and its counterparts from Brazil, China and Russia, the EESC and the Brazilian Council on Economic and Social Development (CDES) are jointly organizing an EU-BRICS civil society dialogue on sustainable development on 19 June 2012.
