European Economic and Social Committee

On Friday 22 June 2012, the Employers' Group of the European Economic and Social Committee and the Covenant of Mayors Office jointly organised a conference entitled:  "Covenant signatories meet Business to convert Plans into Actions".

Local authorities alone cannot address societal challenges involved to drive this sustainable energy transition. Partnership with private entities and local stakeholders is key to boost a sustainable economy. This session aimed at showcasing the private sector’s engagement with European local and regional authorities in the development and implementation of sustainable energy action plans (SEAPs). Both city officials and private sector representatives addressed these issues during two workshops:

• 09.30 – 10.30 Private sector’s responsibility as employer and industrial producer, Moderator Antonello Pezzini, European Economic and Social Committee
• 11.00 – 12.00 Private sector’s engagement in implementing sustainable energy solutions to local authorities, Moderator Kristina Dely, Head of the Covenant of Mayors' Office

The event took place at the European Economic and Social Committee from 9.00 to 12.30 in room JDE62 (6th floor Jacques Delors Building, 99 rue Belliard, 1040 Brussels)
