On the basis of the Cotonou agreement (Protocol 1), the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is mandated to organise consultation sessions and meetings of ACP-EU economic and social interest groups in order to include these actors views on the ACP-EU partnership and foster cooperation between civil society organisations.
Within this framework, in addition to the general meetings for ACP-EU economic and social interest groups organised by the EESC in Brussels every three years, at regular intervals the EESC also organises regional seminars in ACP countries.
This year, the EESC is organising a regional seminar in the Caribbean (Dominican Republic) on 5‑6 July 2012.
The aims of this seminar are:
At the end of the seminar a final declaration will be issued that will be forwarded to the partners of the Cotonou agreement.
