A 2030 FRAMEWORK FOR ENERGY AND CLIMATE POLICIES: promoting civil society's involvement

Seminar - 10:30-13:00 at the EESC, Rue Belliard 99, 1040 Brussels, Belgium

In the context of the on-going debate on the 2030 energy and climate policy framework the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is organising, with the active participation of the European Commission's DG Energy and DG Climate Action, a seminar meant to present the results of the public consultation and maintain a high degree of awareness among and involvement of civil society. Ahead of the publication by the European Commission of further initiatives this event will enable a direct exchange of views with policy-makers and involve civil society representatives in a key process for the transformation of the EU's energy system and the definition of an EU position in the international climate negotiations.

The seminar's specific objectives will be to:

  • present the results of the public consultation
  • provide supplementary feedback on the Green Paper from EESC members and other civil society representatives
  • maintain a dialogue with civil society all along the process of defining the 2030 energy and climate policy framework and a momentum for its involvement in the implementation

This interactive seminar will bring together senior Commission officials, including Director-General for Energy Philip Lowe and Director-General for Climate Action Jos Delbeke, EESC members and a large spectrum of civil society representatives.
