The EESC has been very active in the field of climate change, supporting the European Commission's energy and climate package both domestically and internationally, following the global climate negotiations; and developing global partnerships through side events and bilateral meetings. Extending these partnerships, in particular with French civil society networks, will be a priority for the EESC work on climate in 2015 in the run up to the new climate agreement in Paris.
The EESC is will host a meeting of the French networks of actors for sustainable development federated by the Comité 21 and the European networks preparing for COP21 in December 2015. The event will serve to increase visibility of EESC work on climate, help to develop and strengthen strategic partnerships and it will provide a platform for dialogue on climate and energy, between the EU and civil society. It will also feed into the EESC own initiative opinion on the 2015 global climate negotiations.
