Civil society debate on the global negotiations and the EU position in preparation for the UNFCCC COP 20 in Lima
Climate change is one of the biggest threats to human development. It will affect all economies but will hit people living in poverty the hardest. World leaders are preparing to adopt a new global climate agreement at the UNFCCC COP 21 in Paris in 2015, and elements of an initial text will be tabled at the COP 20 meeting in Lima in December 2014. Civil society will have a crucial role to play in the negotiation process ahead, by contributing to the dialogue on the implications of climate mitigation and adaptation policies for different sectors and demanding concrete policy commitments.
