The objective of the opinion, requested by the Romanian Presidency, is to explore which measures and initiatives should be taken at EU and national level in order to promote organised philanthropy and eliminate barriers within the internal market that are hindering the realisation of its full potential, so as to maximize its contribution to EU values, such as cohesion, social justice and European Policies, and to the competitiveness of the European economy.
The opinion is expected to feed into the Romanian presidency programme and into the political priorities for the new Commission.
Hälso- och sjukvården måste sätta människan i centrum och ses som en social investering, inte som en ”kostnad”. Det var slutsatsen från den konferens som Gruppen för civilsamhällesorganisationer i Europeiska ekonomiska och sociala kommittén (EESK) anordnade i Europahuset i Stockholm den 25 maj 2023. För att åstadkomma detta krävs en förändring av sociala, ekonomiska och politiska tänkesätt.

Academia, local civil society organisations, representatives of regional and national authorities and members of the European Economic and Social Committee met at a conference in Dolni Vítkovice, a former industrial area for coal mining and steel production in Ostrava, on 11 October 2022. The conference on Reinventing the Moravian-Silesian Region in search of a socially just transition was organised by the EESC's Civil Society Organisations' Group as part of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU.
