European organised civil society and citizens have shown unprecedented solidarity with Ukrainian refugees, throwing open their homes, helping these refugees enter the labour market and quickly integrating Ukrainian children into European schools. The EU should now learn from this success story to help all refugees and migrants, the 2022 Forum said.
Att skapa en bättre framtid för ungdomar och att hjälpa ukrainska krigsoffer är de två teman som EESK:s pris till det civila samhället kretsar kring i år.
Åtta konkreta förslag överlämnades till Europeiska kommissionens vice ordförande med ansvar för värden och öppenhet, Věra Jourová, av gymnasieelever från hela Europa. Eleverna deltog i det virtuella ungdomsevenemanget Ditt Europa, din mening! (YEYS2022) på temat ”Sanningen om lögner. Ungdomar står upp mot desinformation”. Evenemanget organiserades av Europeiska ekonomiska och sociala kommittén (EESK) den 31 mars och den 1 april 2022.

At the annual YEYS 2022 event, students from all over Europe will have their say on disinformation and fake news. The event will take place virtually between 31 March and 1 April 2022.
Students from 33 different countries will travel to Brussels in March 2020 to take part in a European Youth Summit on Climate. The event is organised by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), and will follow the model of a United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP).
En obligatorisk kursplan om EU-politik för att öka medborgarnas kunskaper innan de röstar var det förslag som fick flest röster i 2019 års upplaga av ”Ditt Europa, din mening”, ett ungdomsevenemang som anordnades av Europeiska ekonomiska och sociala kommittén (EESK) den 21–22 mars 2019. Detta initiativ och tre andra utvalda förslag, inriktade på användning av ny teknik och sociala medier för att öka deltagandet i valet till Europaparlamentet, kommer att översändas till Europaparlamentet för övervägande.
Better scrutiny and management of food waste, an internationally agreed European history curriculum to combat nationalism, and better knowledge of the EU via the creation of a European day for schools. These were the main recommendations made to policy-makers by the students who took part in Your Europe, Your Say! (YEYS) to overcome the challenges the EU is facing.
