Sodelovanje EESO z organizacijami civilne družbe v Rusiji temelji na petih vodilnih načelih za odnose med EU in Rusijo, ki so jih sprejeli ministri EU za zunanje zadeve in visoka predstavnica Unije za zunanje zadeve in varnostno politiko. Eno od teh vodilnih načel je „podpiranje medosebnih stikov“.

Dialog in izmenjava izkušenj med predstavniki civilne družbe iz EU in Rusije bistveno prispevata k nadaljnjemu izvajanju strateškega partnerstva med EU in Rusijo. EESO je sprejel dvojni pristop k odnosom z rusko civilno družbo, da bi sodeloval s čim širšim razponom predstavnikov civilne družbe. Na eni strani vzdržuje odnose z državljansko zbornico Ruske federacije, svojo uradno rusko partnerico, in med drugim organizira skupne letne seminarje o temah, zanimivih za civilno družbo na obeh straneh. Drugi partner EESO je forum civilne družbe EU-Rusija, pri katerem sodelujejo različne organizacije civilne družbe.

Spremljevalni odbor EU-Rusija je notranji organ EESO, ki deluje kot usmerjevalna skupina in je odgovoren za razvoj in vzdrževanje odnosov ter organizacijo sestankov in skupnih seminarjev s civilno družbo v Rusiji.

This public hearing will have a special focus on health policies and antidiscrimination. The aims of the project are to highlight the impact of EU legislation and, programmes from the perspective of civil society; to assess appropriate and effective instruments to more closely involve civil society organisations as a means to improve the social inclusion of the Roma; to look into possible shortcomings in the work already being done at European, national, regional and local level.

In the framework of the TTIP negotiations, the European Commission presented a draft text for the chapter on regulatory cooperation in May 2015. The objective of this chapter is to remove unnecessary obstacles to trade by improving cooperation between regulators, reducing unnecessary regulatory segmentation and improve effectiveness of regulations. The regulatory cooperation should not limit the ability of EU and Member states to regulate in public interest. The modalities of implementation of the future regulatory cooperation chapter in TTIP and the sectors covered are of great interest to civil society. The Round table enabled civil society representative to comment the proposals of the European Commission and to express their recommendations.

In the light of the ongoing EU-US Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is drafting an own-initiative opinion on "The position of the EESC on specific key issues of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations". In this framework, the EESC is organising a public hearing, to be held at the Committee premises on 30 June 2016, beginning at 9 a.m.

The aim of the hearing is to bring together experts, civil society representatives and decision-makers from national and European institutions, think tanks and volunteering organisations, who will present their views on the availability and need for such statistical data. Based on the findings of the hearing, the EESC will draw up an own-initiative opinion on the same topic, to be presented later in the course of 2013.

On 28 May 2014 the United Nations Department for Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) in collaboration with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) will organise a regional briefing and consultation on Sustainable Development Goals and the UN High-Level Political Forum on sustainable development. The event will provide briefing on latest news and developments from the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals and give regional level Major Groups and other stakeholders the opportunity to contribute with their priorities and offer their regional perspectives.

The members of the study group preparing the opinion on EU Arctic Policy to address globally emerging interests in the region – a view of civil society organised a public hearing on 31 January 2013 in Rovaniemi, Finland to discuss with the representatives of the civil society the EU's interests and priorities in the region which wins emerging interest among the global actors, in such areas as energy, transport, with serious consequences for the environment and the inhabitants.

Minimum income schemes are important tools to combat poverty and social exclusion, since they ensure personal security, play a significant role in redistributing wealth and guarantee more solidarity and social justice. This hearing will reflect on a better measurement of poverty and on the problems of adopting a European minimum income scheme. It will bring together experts and people involved in advocacy work to contribute to the EESC opinion.
