Udeleženci letošnjega mladinskega dogodka Vaša Evropa, vaš glas (YEYS), ki ga je Evropski ekonomsko-socialni odbor (EESO) organiziral 21. in 22. marca 2019, so največ glasov namenili predlogu za obvezno izobraževanje o evropski politiki, da bi bili državljani pred glasovanjem s tem bolje seznanjeni. Ta pobuda bo skupaj s tremi drugimi izbranimi predlogi, ki se osredotočajo na uporabo novih tehnologij in družbenih medijev za večjo udeležbo na evropskih volitvah, poslana v razmislek Evropskemu parlamentu.

Evropski ekonomsko-socialni odbor (EESO) je na marčevskem plenarnem zasedanju sprejel mnenje, v katerem predlaga globalno strategijo za utrjevanje miru pod vodstvom EU. Strategija med drugim predvideva oblikovanje t. i. Poti belega goloba – poti miru od Severne Irske do Nikozije po stopinjah Kolumbana, irskega romarja iz 6. stoletja. Njen namen bi bil spodbujati dialog in spravo ter preprečevati konflikte.

Jane Morrice at a EESC plenary session

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) adopted in its February plenary session an opinion supporting the continuation of the European Peace and Reconciliation Programme (PEACE) in Northern Ireland after the UK's withdrawal from the EU. This continued support is considered as "crucial" given the sensitivity of the debate on the UK/Ireland border in the context of the Brexit negotiations.

8th Meeting of the EU-Serbia Civil Society Joint Consultative Committee

Civil society representatives from both Serbia and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) asked the EU institutions to monitor more effectively the reforms in the area of the rule of law in Serbia and other EU candidate countries in a joint declaration issued as an outcome of the 8th meeting of the EU-Serbia Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) that took place in Brussels on 27 February.
