A Europe that works for workers

The British people have decided to leave the European Union. The EESC Workers' Group deeply regrets this decision but respects the democratic vote.

This result will have profound effects on both the UK and the EU and poses many questions for the EU institutions. We firmly ask EU leaders to immediately change the direction of Europe. They must take action to improve the living and working conditions of the European citizens. We have to put the EU back on the path to implementing what is established in the Treaty: the Union's aim is to promote peace, its values and the well-being of its peoples. We need a different economic and social strategy to relaunch social cohesion and a different direction towards a fairer Europe, a Europe that works for workers.
