EU Open Day at the European Institutions

Open day

Together with the other EU institutions in Brussels, on Saturday 6 May, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) was happy to open its doors to nearly 2 300 visitors in celebration of Europe Day, for the first time since the COVID-19 crisis.

The EESC Open Day was a rare opportunity to discover the work of the only EU institution representing organised civil society, including employers, workers and other interest groups such as youth organisations, environmentalists, consumers, women's groups and many more. It was a chance for reflection on what peace, cooperation and solidarity have built and what we hope to achieve in the future.

The visitors could:

  • Discover what the EESC can do for them, find out who we are and what we do. Come see the EU buildings and get a taste of what daily life in an EU institution looks like.
  • Exchange views with the EESC members on topical issues of interest and concern, as well as learn about the role of the EESC in the EU decision-making process.
  • Discover what EESC members do back in their home countries.
Take part in live activities: Europe Day is usually a celebration of peace and unity in Europe, with interactive games on the EU, live music and refreshments, face painting for the children and much more!
