The past few weeks have been pivotal to the European agenda with the Porto Social Summit on 7 May and the adoption of the Porto Declaration, and then, on 9 May – Europe Day, the official launch of the Conference on the Future of Europe in Strasbourg. EU leaders committed to the implementation of the Action Plan for the European Pillar of Social Rights as a fundamental element of a recovery orientated towards a digital, green and fair transition. The revised Social Scoreboard proposed in the Action Plan, as well as a new set of indicators to measure economic, social and environmental progress, should help to monitor progress – also in the context of the European Semester exercise.

In this regard, I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to share some reflections regarding a reform of the European Semester process – on behalf of the Liaison Group's civil society organisations (CSOs) – at the EESC's annual European Semester conference on Building a resilient Europe – Civil society and the National Recovery and Resilience Plans.
