Let's turn out and vote for a united Europe

EESC resolution urges civil society to turn out in force at European elections and vote for a united Europe
The EESC's plenary session on 15 May adopted a resolution calling on all EU citizens to turn out at the forthcoming European elections and vote in favour of a united Europe. The Committee also invited civil society organisations to join efforts to mobilise voters. Read the full text here.

European Elections 2019: Special Newsletter of the Workers' Group

“The upcoming European Elections, taking place 23-26 May 2019, are going to be decisive for all European citizens. Ahead of the European elections, the EESC will assess the impact of the Social Pillar

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is starting to take stock of progress made so far in implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights ("the Social Pillar"), a tool for social policy proclaimed by the European Parliament, the Council and the European Commission at the Gothenburg Summit in November 2017.

The real right of persons with disabilities to vote in European Parliament elections (Information report)

In each of the 27 EU countries, there are laws or organisational arrangements which exclude some voters with disabilities from participating in EP elections. If the best practices from across all countries were implemented, an ideal system would emerge in which every EU citizen with disabilities not only would have the full possibility to vote but also would be able to choose for themselves the most convenient way in which to vote.

„Nie ma głosowania bez edukacji” (ang. „No Education, No Vote”) – obowiązkowy program nauczania dotyczący spraw europejskich – najpopularniejszą propozycją tegorocznej edycji „Twoja Europa – Twoje zdanie” YEYS 2019

Obowiązkowy program nauczania dotyczący polityki europejskiej, aby poszerzyć wiedzę obywateli przed wyborami, zdobył najwięcej głosów w tegorocznej edycji „Twoja Europa – Twoje Zdanie” (YEYS), wydarzeniu dla młodzieży zorganizowanym przez Europejski Komitet Ekonomiczno-Społeczny (EKES) w dniach 21–22 marca 2019 r. Ta propozycja, podobnie jak wybrane pozostałe trzy, skupiające się na wykorzystaniu nowych technologii i mediów społecznościowych w celu zwiększenia udziału w wyborach europejskich, zostaną przekazane Parlamentowi Europejskiemu do rozpatrzenia.

EESC and European Parliament will work together to raise awareness about European elections and encourage participation

Luca Jahier, President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), and Antonio Tajani, President of the European Parliament (EP), signed on 5 December a joint declaration in view of the European elections that will be held in May 2019.

Członkowie Europejskiego Komitetu Ekonomiczno-Społecznego potępiają nieuzasadnioną i niczym niesprowokowaną inwazję na Ukrainę przez władze rosyjskie i wyrażają solidarność z narodem ukraińskim, wzywając do zdecydowanych działań zarówno na szczeblu UE, jak i na szczeblu krajowym – w duchu jedności w tym dramatycznym czasie.

In view of the informal Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the EU on the future of Europe in Sibiu (Romania), on 9 may 2019, the EESC, as the institutional representative of organised civil society, sets out its own vision of the future with Europe becoming the world leader on sustainable development. To this end, The Committee calls for a new strategy based on a global, cross-sectoral approach focusing on the needs of the citizens with the primary goal of sustainability.

Real rights of persons with disabilities to vote in European Parliament elections. Information report

This report presents the state of play of the implementation of the right of European Union (EU) citizens with disabilities to vote in elections to the European Parliament (EP). The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), an EU advisory body, believes it has a duty, in the run-up to the EP elections, to provide EU institutions, Member States and EU citizens with a full picture of how this right is actually implemented. The EESC hopes that at the next elections in 2024, no EU citizen will be deprived of their right to vote because of their disability.
