Kindred Spirits

On the occasion of the Annual European Circular Economy Stakeholder Conference, co-organised with the European Commission, the EESC will be hosting an artwork exhibition for the month of March 2019.

The art exhibition, "Kindred Spirits", displaying the work of Dutch artist Suzanne Jongmans, will be in Foyer 6 from 4 to 29 March.

The photography of Suzanne Jongmans investigates the relationship between past and present, and the transience and vulnerability of time. She crafts intricate costumes using recycled plastics, old blankets and used packaging.

Jongmans finds inspiration in 16th and 17th century painters such as Jan van Eyck, Rembrandt and Holbein, whose level of detail she aims to replicate, and she adapts their paintings with a key message: the importance of giving new life to old materials.

The opening of the exhibition is planned to take place during the closing plenary of the Stakeholder Conference on 7 March in Atrium 6.
