Supporting vulnerable regions and citizens: Boosting sustainable growth and cohesion

In line with the first priority of the Bulgarian Presidency, for European economic growth and social cohesion, the Various Interests Group decided to organise its next extraordinary meeting on the topic of supporting and integrating vulnerable regions and citizens.

The conference entitled ‘Supporting Vulnerable Regions and Citizens: boosting sustainable growth and cohesion’ took place at the Boyana conference centre, which had been kindly made available to the EESC by the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The conference included amongst others keynote speeches by Bulgarian ministers and panel discussions on:

  • Investing in and stimulating vulnerable mountain regions
  • Creating opportunities and protecting the rights of vulnerable citizens
  • Promoting economic development and combatting depopulation in non-urban regions
