Tackling long-term unemployment: the role of the organised civil society

This meeting of the Labour Market Observatory (LMO) is organised in collaboration with the National Council of Labour Consultants of Italy on the theme of long-term unemployment. This is one of the Observatory's priorities, at a time when EU Member States implement the 2016 Council Recommendation on the integration of long-term unemployed into the labour market.

The meeting will take place in Rome. Italy is the EU Member State with the highest number of long-term unemployed - 1.5 million people. A substantial reform of public employment services is currently taking place, with a view to delivering better assistance to unemployed people. In this process, social partners and other civil society organisations are mobilising to help public authorities addressing the issue and filling in possible gaps. The meeting will be an opportunity to better understand their current initiatives.

The participation in this meeting is by invitation only. Should you be interested by this meeting, please send an e-mail to Ana Dumitrache.
