On 12 February, the Sustainable Development Observatory will hold a debate on the EU Reflection Paper on Sustainable Europe by 2030. It will then look at several national strategies and processes involving civil society actors.
This event will explore civil society's role in the Sustainable Development Strategies. It will also give particular attention to the monitoring of the progress on SDGs, both at the national and EU level by debating the SDG indicators and potential for their improvement.
Civil society and municipalities: building sustainability through collaboration
Rue Belliard 99, 1040 Bruxelles
The second event for the European Day of Sustainable Communities will showcase the critical contribution that community-led initiatives on climate change and sustainability are making to support EU policy goals in these areas.
The European Economic and Social Committee is holding a public debate to explore and propose indicators that are suited to European civil society's needs for monitoring the progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
We are now in the third year since the Goals were launched and not enough has been done to ensure they will be achieved by 2030. This event will present and examine Eurostat's new EU tailored SDG Report and engage participants in a discussion on how to best address various SDGs requiring concerted support for their further implementation.
On the second anniversary of the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda) and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the European Economic and Social Committee has the pleasure to invite you to a public debate that will explore how the monitoring of implementation of the SDGs should take shape in the EU.
The 2030 Agenda and the SDGs were adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in September, 2015. The EU has yet to propose an implementation strategy outlining the timelines, objectives and concrete measures to implement the 2030 Agenda across all relevant EU internal and external policies. There is also a need to propose a framework for a comprehensive analysis of the SDG implementation across the EU Member States. Two years since the adoption of the Agenda, the Sustainable Development Observatory of the EESC will hold space for reflection on latest developments thus far with a special emphasis on the monitoring of SDG implementation.
