To Be and Not to Be (in Corona times)

To mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3 December), the EESC presented the short film To Be and Not to Be (in times of Corona).

The short film was produced by Theatre Stap in November 2020 in Turnhout (Belgium) during the strict measures imposed due to the pandemic.

It tells the story of a music band whose members struggle to keep their active role in society during the period of harsh restrictions.

The film premiered during the EESC's December plenary session, as the EESC's annual commemorative event highlighting its work on issues that concern people with disabilities.

The EESC's Section for Employment, Social Affairs and Citizenship (SOC) has set up a Study group on disability rights, the main goals being to provide a forum for the civil society perspective, particularly for organisations of people with disabilities, and to gather and take stock of reactions on progress in implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

This is a cultural initiative organised in cooperation with the Joint Committee for Equal Opportunities (COPEC).
