Section debate - Grand départ – a great start for cleaner mobility

As part of the 180th meeting of the Section for Transport, Energy, Infrastructure and the Information Society (TEN), to be held at the European Economic and Social Committee at 9.30 a.m. on 3 July 2019, a debate will be held featuring testimonies from high-level guests on the subject of "clean mobility" in the run-up to the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in Brussels.

The EESC supports Europe's ambition of making rapid progress towards establishing a clean, available, affordable, competitive, safe and connected mobility system that integrates all modes of transport and covers the whole of the EU.

Following an exchange of views focusing on the various aspects of the proposed topic, the president of the TEN Section, Pierre Jean Coulon, will invite the participants to a dialogue between the EESC president, Luca Jahier, and Alberto Toscano, author of Un vélo contre la barbarie nazie. L'incroyable destin du champion Gino Bartali. The session will tell the story of world cycling champion Gino Bartali and his humanitarian gesture, as told in Alberto Toscano's book.
