For his contribution to strengthening bilateral relations between Japan and Bulgaria, Georgi Stoev was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, by the Ambassador of Japan to Bulgaria Masato Watanabe. The Order of the Rising Sun is the highest Japanese Orders for civil and military merits awarded to foreign nationals.

On 11 December 2019, the European Economic and Social Committee voted on the opinion "Common minimum standards in the field of unemployment insurance in EU Member States" (SOC/583). The opinion was adopted by 141 votes in favour, 65 votes against and 14 abstentions. The majority of members of the Employers' Group voted against the opinion.
Future challenges related to globalisation, digitalisation, climate change, Brexit and others were the topic of the seminar "Future of Europe – challenges ahead", that took place on 3 December in Malta. The conference was organised by the Employers' Group together with the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry.
Sustainability is of critical importance for business and employers, who play a crucial role as generators of development. A sound and solid economy is the necessary enabler of sustainable development. We need to seek solutions beneficial in three aspects: economic, social and environmental. While various stakeholders have much in common in their perceptions of sustainability, they often differ on how to get there. These are some of the conclusions of the discussion on "How business can promote sustainability" that took place on 21 November 2019 in Barcelona, Spain.
High-level officials from the European External Action Service (EEAS), members of the European Parliament (EP), and a representative from the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) convened in Kiev for the 3rd Association Exchange Forum. Together they discussed recent achievements and shared experiences, best practices and lessons learnt regarding AAs, institutional set-ups, implementation monitoring issues and civil society involvement. Dr. Istvan Komoroczki, EESC chairman of the EU-Georgia Civil Society Platform from the Employers Group, also took part in the Forum.
The priorities of the Croatian presidency and the contribution of employers to their implementation were the main topics of the Employers' Group president's bilateral meetings during his visit in Zagreb on 14 and 15 November 2019. Jacek Krawczyk met representatives of the Croatian government and parliament, and leaders of Croatian employers' associations.
