Even though the percentage of Roma living in Italy is lower than in Eastern European countries, the Roma community is still living in great destitution and segregation. Antigypsyism is rising and the housing situation is very problematic, as shown in the closing of camps and forced evictions. In general, the National Roma Integration Strategies are not sufficiently monitored in Italy, because the strategy has been dispersed throughout various ministries and regional authorities.

The country visit took place from 5 to 7 February 2019 in Italy.
