During the NAT section meeting of 24 November, we had the honour to host H.E. Ambassador Amira Gornass, Chair of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS). She participated in a thematic debate on "Fostering a transition to more sustainable food systems" and presented the key role of the CFS, particularly in the context of the SDG implementation and the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition 2016-2025. Prof. Olivier De Schutter, Co-Chair of the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems (IPES-Food), was also invited to present IPES-Food vision for a common food policy in the EU. The presentations and following discussion provided input for the future work of the EESC NAT Section (through the Permanent Study Group on Sustainable Food Systems), as the promotion of a comprehensive food policy is one of its key priorities for the upcoming months.
