L'objectif de l'avis, demandé par la présidence roumaine, est d'explorer les mesures et les initiatives à prendre aux niveaux européen et national afin de promouvoir la philanthropie organisée et d'éliminer les obstacles sur le marché intérieur qui entravent la réalisation de son plein potentiel, afin de maximiser sa contribution aux valeurs de l'UE telles que la cohésion, la justice sociale et les politiques européennes, ainsi qu'à la compétitivité de l'économie européenne.
L'avis devrait alimenter le programme de la présidence roumaine et les priorités politiques de la nouvelle Commission.
Healthcare must be people-centred and valued as a social investment, not a 'cost', concluded a conference organised by the Civil Society Organisations' Group of the EESC at the House of Europe in Stockholm on 25 May 2023. For this to happen it is necessary to change mindsets socially, economically and politically.

Academia, local civil society organisations, representatives of regional and national authorities and members of the European Economic and Social Committee met at a conference in Dolni Vítkovice, a former industrial area for coal mining and steel production in Ostrava, on 11 October 2022. The conference on Reinventing the Moravian-Silesian Region in search of a socially just transition was organised by the EESC's Civil Society Organisations' Group as part of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU.
