The EESC issues between 160 and 190 opinions and information reports a year.
It also organises several annual initiatives and events with a focus on civil society and citizens’ participation such as the Civil Society Prize, the Civil Society Days, the Your Europe, Your Say youth plenary and the ECI Day.

The EESC brings together representatives from all areas of organised civil society, who give their independent advice on EU policies and legislation. The EESC's326 Members are organised into three groups: Employers, Workers and Various Interests.
The EESC has six sections, specialising in concrete topics of relevance to the citizens of the European Union, ranging from social to economic affairs, energy, environment, external relations or the internal market.

The 13th meeting of the EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform will take place on 3 July 2023. During the meeting, a debate will focus on assessing the implementation of the seven steps outlined by the European Commission and the state of play of the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, as well as on enhancing the role of civil society in Ukraine's way to the EU. The Platform will also discuss the challenges and possibilities for Ukraine today and in the post-war reconstruction, with special focus on green recovery, energy, environment and employment. A joint declaration, prepared by both sides, will be discussed and adopted.

Representatives of the European and Ukrainian Domestic Advisory Groups (DAGs), set up under the Association Agreement between the European Union and Ukraine, will hold their sixth joint meeting on 26 January 2023. The objective of the meeting will be to prepare a set of recommendations for the EU-Ukraine Trade and Sustainable Development Sub-Committee and the Civil Society Forum, which will take place in March 2023.
The 206th meeting of the Section for External Relations of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) will take place on 31 January 2023. During the meeting, which comes nearly one year after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a debate will be held on the resilience of Ukrainian civil society and on the EU support to the country.
