  • La 3e réunion conjointe des groupes consultatifs intern (GCI) dans le cadre de l'accord de libre-échange UE-Singapour a présenté des mises à jour sur les activités des GCI de Singapour et de l'UE depuis la réunion de décembre 2021, ainsi qu'une discussion d'actualité sur les perspectives commerciales UE-Singapour en le paysage géopolitique actuel.

    Nous avons eu des discussions thématiques sur l'économie numérique et la durabilité, les travailleurs migrants et les gens de mer, l'huile de palme et la déforestation, et les incitations du Green Deal européen.

    En outre, nous avons assisté à une présentation du rapporteur Thomas Wagnsonner sur les points clés de l'avis du CESE sur une proposition de règlement interdisant les produits fabriqués par le travail forcé sur le marché de l'Union.

    La dernière partie de l'événement a été consacrée à l'atelier sur l'économie numérique et ses liens avec la durabilité

  • Le 8 mars 2023, la cinquième réunion du groupe consultatif interne de l'UE s'est tenue dans un format hybride. L'un des objectifs de la réunion était de préparer la partie européenne à la prochaine réunion conjointe avec le DAG de Singapour. Les membres ont suivi une présentation sur le commerce des services entre l'UE et Singapour, donnée par M. Pascal Kerneis, président du DAG de l'UE. En outre, les membres du DAG ont reçu des mises à jour de la DG COMMERCE de la Commission européenne sur les questions horizontales de commerce et d'investissement avec Singapour ainsi que sur la mise en œuvre du chapitre sur le commerce et le développement durable de l'accord de libre-échange UE-Singapour.

  • A DAG-to-DAG is a joint civil society body between the partner countries of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), bringing together the separate DAGs of each party. This is the 2nd joint meeting of the EU and Singapore DAGs under the EU-Singapore FTA.

    In this 2nd DAG-to-DAG meeting, besides discussing issues related to the implementation of the Trade and Sustainable Development Chapter of the FTA and following up on previous meetings and planning activities ahead, the members will welcome both Ms Iwona Piórko, Ambassador, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Singapore as well as Mr Thaddaeus Hoo, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore to Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg & Mission to the European Union, for a timely overview of the EU-Singapore relations, with particular emphasis on trade.

  • This meeting will take place ahead of a possible joint meeting with the Singaporeans counterparts that might be organised by the end of this year. It will also give the EU DAG the opportunity to receive an update from DG Trade on the implementation of the TSD chapter as well as an overview of the current trade relations between the EU and Singapore.

  • The EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (FTA) envisages that DAG members of each Party will meet together at a Civil Society Forum to conduct a dialogue encompassing sustainable development aspects of trade relations between the Parties. The Civil Society Forum meets once a year unless otherwise agreed by the Parties, with the venue alternating between Brussels and Singapore.

    In the 1st EU-Singapore FTA Trade and Sustainable Development (TSD) Public Stakeholders' Forum on 20 November 2020 the focus of the exchange of view will be in the trade-related environment issues, on the one hand, and trade-related labour issues, on the other hand. The Forum envisages also sharing on the discussions that have taken place at the TSD Board meeting on 17 and 18 November.

  • A DAG-to-DAG is a joint civil society body between the partner countries of a Free Trade Agreement, bringing together the separate DAGs of each party. This is the 1st joint meeting of the EU and Singapore DAGs under the EU-Singapore FTA.

    The DAG-to-DAG meetings allow for civil society organisations which are involved on a regular basis in their respective domestic monitoring exercises to come together and exchange views on implementation issues. In the 1st meeting DAG-to-DAG under the EU-Singapore FTA on 19 November 2020, the members will most importantly get to know each other but also exchange views on the work programme in the first mandate and consider possible topics for future work.

  • Implementation of the TSD Chapter within the EU-Singapore FTA and the contribution by the economic, social and environmental civil society actors to its monitoring

    In this first workshop that gathers together the members of the EU DAG and Singapore DAG the focus will be on the consultation of civil society in the context of policy and legislation development and implementation, including in the context of trade policy, trade agreements and Trade and Sustainable Development chapters.

    The workshop will be introduced with a presentation by an external speaker and followed by a Q&A-session. The participants will have the possibility to share information on how civil society functions and is consulted in their respective countries. The aim of the discussions is to share experience and build the ground for future cooperation.

  • The EU Domestic Advisory Group (DAG) is composed of representatives of European employers' organisations, trade unions, environmental and other organized interest groups.

    During the meeting on 18 November 2020 the EU DAG members will discuss the work programme for the first mandate, agree on the working methods as well as elect the chair and two vice-chairs. Additionally, the members of the EU DAG will exchange views with representatives of the European Commission on the state of implementation of the Trade and Sustainable Development Chapter of the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement.
