  • Tout récemment (du 27 au 31 janvier), une délégation de membres du comité de suivi UE-Japon du CESE s’est rendue en visite au Japon pour débattre de la mise en œuvre de l’accord de partenariat économique (APE) – en vigueur depuis le mois de février 2019 – et renforcer la coopération avec la partie japonaise. La visite comportait une table ronde sur l’économie circulaire et un premier dialogue conjoint UE-Japon avec la société civile dans le cadre de l’APE. Des questions relatives au commerce et au développement durable étaient inscrites à l’ordre du jour. 

  • Employers believe that the business community has a crucial role to play in spreading a positive message about trade and in explaining what an ambitious trade policy can achieve. It is businesses that can tell the story of the practical benefits stemming from trade agreements. This was the main message that the members of the EESC Employers' Group delivered to Cecilia Malmström, EU Commissioner for Trade, during their meeting on 6 December 2017.
