Head of Cabinet

Prior to obtaining his present position at the EESC, Markus Stock was head of the EU Representation of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO) at the Permanent Representation of Austria to the EU from 2012-2020.

He has over 20 years of experience in European affairs and decision-making, which he gained inter alia from working at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber in Vienna, the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, the Permanent Representation of Austria to the EU and as a Permanent Delegate to European Associations.

During his career Mr Stock has focussed on topics related to the completion of the European Single Market. He has also dealt with EU enlargement and with industrial, trade, social, health and SME policy.    

Mr Stock holds a Master's Degree in Law from the University of Innsbruck and was awarded the Diplôme d'Honneur of the Fondation du Mérite Européen. 

In addition to his role as head of the president's cabinet, Mr Stock is responsible for following the Conference on the Future of Europe and the work of the Section for External Relations (REX).

Deputy Head of Cabinet 

Ana Dumitrache joined the EESC in 2009 and has worked since then in the training unit, in the Europe 2020 Steering Committee and, for the last eight years, as head of the Labour Market Observatory secretariat in the Section for Employment, Social Affairs and Citizenship secretariat. She has mainly supported EESC members on EU policies related to employment (including youth employment, the long-term unemployed, ageing workers and migrant workers), as well as on platform work, labour mobility, the green and digital transitions, education and training and the European Semester.

Before working for the EESC, Ana Dumitrache was an administrator for four years in the Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) Committee of the European Parliament, where she was mainly in charge of migration and asylum, taking part in both co-decision and consultation procedures and helping MEPs in their work, including in trilogues.

Prior to that, she worked for two years as a consultant and manager of European Commission projects (EuropeAid and DG Enlargement).

Ms Dumitrache holds a Master's Degree in Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and an Advanced Master's Degree in European Law from the Institut d'Etudes européennes, Brussels.

In the president's cabinet, Ms Dumitrache is mainly in charge of following the work of the Section for Employment, Social Affairs and Citizenship (SOC), including its Labour Market Observatory (LMO), the Group on Fundamental Rights and the Rule of Law (FRRL) and the Section for Economic and Monetary Union and Economic and Social Cohesion (ECO). She will also be following the EESC's work on the Green Deal.

Spokesperson and Communication Adviser to the President

Magdalena Walczak-Jarosz is a former Brussels correspondent, journalist, TV producer and communication expert. 

She covered European politics and socio-economic affairs first for the Polish national broadcaster, TVP, and then for Xinhua News Agency.

She coordinated various EU-related communication campaigns while employed at Mostra Communication (currently ICF Next). She also produced numerous international TV projects while working for EuroparlTV. 

Her career began with contributions to Newsweek and Forbes magazines.

She holds two Master's Degrees: one from the University of Warsaw in Polish linguistics and literature, and the other from the Warsaw School of Economics in marketing and management.

In addition to her communication role in the president's cabinet, Magdalena Walczak-Jarosz is in charge of following the work of the Section for Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment (NAT), including its Sustainable Development Observatory (SDO).

Marie-Therese ETTMAYER

Cabinet Member

Marie-Therese Ettmayer has over 14 years of experience working in Austrian and EU public administrations. Between 2011 and 2020, Ms Ettmayer worked for the European Commission in the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT). Most recently, she led a policy team responsible for EU cloud, data and software policies. She also worked on telecommunications and the wider Digital Single Market policy areas within DG CONNECT,  gaining experience in geo-blocking, platforms, data economy, cyber security, media policies, data and consumer protection. Before coming to Brussels, she worked at the Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications.

Ms Ettmayer holds a Master's Degree in Law from the University of Vienna.

In the president's cabinet, Ms Ettmayer is in charge of following the work of the Section for Transport, Energy, Infrastructure and the Information Society (TEN), the Section for Single Market, Production and Consumption (INT), including its Single Market Observatory (SMO), and of the Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI). She will also be following the EESC's work on digitalisation.
