Female Notes

To commemorate this year's International Women's Day (8 March), the EESC is staging an exhibition entitled "Female Notes". Taking the form of biographical panels of female composers and musicians from the nineteenth century, the exhibition traces the social identity of female musicians from that time to the present day and pays tribute to hundreds of female artists across Europe as it also traces the evolution of musical culture.

The exhibition is being held in collaboration with the Women's Toponymy association, which was awarded with the EESC's Civil Society prize in December 2019.

Women's Toponymy is an Italian project that tries to increase the number of places bearing the name of notable women and so give them the public recognition they deserve.

The event is also being held in cooperation with COPEC (Joint Committee for Equal Opportunities).
